Bobby McFerrin – Don’t Worry, Be Happy
Bobby McFerrin won a Grammy for Song of the Year for this 1988 Billboard Hot 100 1 song, Don’t Worry, Be Happy. It was the first a cappella song to hit 1 on the Billboard charts. Every musical noise on the song was made by McFerrin. No instruments were used in the song. The music video features Robin Williams and Bill Irwin. Enjoy!

Wheatus – Teenage Dirtbag
Teenage Dirtbag is the only single from Wheatus to chart in the U.S. It’s on their 2000 self-titled debut album, and it peaked at 7 on the Billboard Modern Rock charts. It’s also featured on the soundtrack to the movie Loser. Enjoy!

I know, I know…late again. Cut me a break, I’m lazy.

Anyway, here you go.

Mike Reno & Ann Wilson – Almost Paradise…Love Theme From Footloose
Mike Reno is the lead singer for the 80’s band Loverboy. Back in 1984, he teamed up with Heart’s Ann Wilson to record the song Almost Paradise for the movie Footloose. It was a huge hit, peaking at 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, and it spent 13 weeks inside the top 40. Enjoy!

The Folk Implosion – Natural One
Natural One is a single released by The Folk Implosion back in 1995. It was included on the soundtrack to Larry Clark’s film Kids, and it peaked at 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Enjoy!

Spacehog – In The Meantime
Spacehog’s biggest hit was their first single ever released. It was 1995’s In The Meantime, which was the first track off their debut album, Resident Alien. They would go on to release two more albums before splitting up in 2002. A little trivia: Lead vocalist Royston Langdon married actress Liv Tyler in 2003, and they have one son together named Milo William Langdon.

Sunday Night Flashback Video Pt. 7!!!

5 10 2008

Ooops, a little late but better late than never. Enjoy!!!

Lipps, Inc. – Funkytown
Funkytown was Lipps, Inc.’s biggest hit. It spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 charts back in 1979. It’s considered by many true disco fans to be the last disco song to hit 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

The Archies – Sugar Sugar
Sugar Sugar was ranked as the 1 song for all of 1969 by Billboard magazine. It’s the first time a fictional band had a 1 hit.

Blind Melon – No Rain
Blind Melon’s video for No Rain is probably one of the most memorable videos of all-time. Everybody remembers the bumblebee girl. Blind Melon probably would have had more hits if not for the untimely death of lead singer Shannon Hoon in 1995. As it is, No Rain remains their only hit. It went to 1 on both the Billboard Mainstream and Modern Rock charts in 1992.
